At some point in life, we are all trying to save money. It is not easy. There are certain things we have to pay for, certain things we need, certain things we want and certain things we buy, well just because. There are some things that we buy though that we think we need and actually don’t. Here are some things you don’t need to buy in order to save some money.
Single-use appliances
The sandwich maker, the melon baller, the rice cooker, the slow cooker, etc. There are so many appliances we can buy for our kitchen that make it seem like they make life easier. In reality, they don’t. Put your sandwich in the oven, it will come out just as nice. Need to ball a melon? Use a spoon. Want to cook rice. Use a pot. By avoiding these purchases you are saving money and space in your kitchen.
Formal attire
That wedding is coming around and you just have to get a new suit or dress for it. Try renting instead. You will be surprised how little use you get out of such an outfit so just rent one for the day. You will look and feel great and your smile will be extra big in the photos because you are the one saving money.
Lottery Tickets
They say that the lottery is just a tax on the poor and it is true. Think about it. We spend so much of our hard-earned money in a year on the chance to get rich but it does not happen. Of course, we all know someone who knows someone who won the lotto but the chances of you winning it are slim or none. So don’t bother. Every time you want to play the lotto put the money in a jar and you will have saved up for a week’s worth of groceries or a small getaway in no time. Don’t be a slave to the lottery.
These are just three simple tips to help you save money. The principles though apply here and everywhere else. Don’t buy what you don’t need. Don’t gamble. Don’t waste large amounts of money. Of course, we all spend a little on impulses here and there but let it be for a chocolate bar, not a new dress. Start to budget long term and you will save all the money you need.
