Mental health is your most important job in life. It is the easiest thing to forget about but when you start to feel like stress, anxiety, and sadness are a normal part of your daily routine you are doing something wrong. Here is how to correct it and get your mental health game back on track.
Start with your posture
It may sound unrelated but studies have shown that sitting up straight creates a more positive mentality. It also has physical benefits and you look better to everyone else. Win, win, win.
Reduce clutter
While we are all busy people and we can “get to the laundry later”, do it now instead. Leaving simple things until later creates clutter in your life and your mind. It means if you are sitting down to watch your favorite show, some part of you is still thinking about the dishes. This removes your ability to immerse yourself in whatever happy activity you are doing and you won’t be really able to enjoy yourself. Give yourself a break by getting the chores done first.
Plan your finances
Many people spend until they have nothing left and then panic. Instead, plan out your budget and remove any unnecessary surprises. Certainty in how you are spending will give you confidence in your actions and make you feel better about each dollar you spend. You have to spend money to live so don’t feel bad about it, just plan it better.
Say no sometimes
No is a negative word and should never be uttered, is the silliest sentence. You must say no. When people are asking you to do much at work, say no. When people invite you places you don’t want to go, say no. You don’t owe anyone anything. It is your time and your life, spend it how you want to spend. Say yes to things you want to do and no to things you don’t want to. Easy.
