Work is like a family. Actually you spend more of your waking hours each day with your coworkers than you do with your family. With that in mind is important to be conscious of how you act, to avoid annoying your coworkers and not let your bad habits impact your work life. Here are some of the best things to avoid that are sure to bother your coworkers.

Teacher’s pet
While you have left school and are now in the working world it can be a balancing act to impress your boss and get that next promotion without appearing to be kissing their ass. Try not to be the parrot of your boss by repeating things he or she says. Try not to always agree. You can do a little bit of extra work but don’t arrive early and stay late every day or you risk alienating your peers.
Music and other oddities
In the modern office, everyone listens to music while they work. Be mindful of others and keep it quiet. The same goes for other important behaviors. Keep your shoes on if your feet tend to be a little smelly. Don’t chew loudly at your desk. Don’t smash the keys.
Give credit to others
Don’t steal credit from other people and make sure you recognize your peers whenever you can. This will make them happy and your boss will see you as a leader. Don’t complain about small issues either. Don’t tell the boss if someone is late or make an example of them. Look after your work and let them look after theirs. They are not your problem.
Keep the kitchen and office tidy
While you may have a cleaner who comes twice a week it is no excuse to leave mugs in the sink or wrappers on the kitchen table. While you can have your desk a bit messier don’t allow it to be dirty either. The office is a common area for all.
Overall just be nice to your fellow employees. Be mindful of your actions and don’t try so hard to impress your boss that you leave your employees in the dirt. If you want that promotion, working with your employees will get you there too.
