For many, retirement is the dream on the horizon. That moment when you can put your tools down and your feet up and enjoy life without working. For others, enjoying life and work go hand in hand and the thought of putting their feet up is the same as giving up. Let’s look at some of the oldest and most impressive people still working.
The Queen of England, 92
The Queen of England just loves to work. While she doesn’t have a standard 9 to 5 role she has still not retired from her royal duties. Her son, Prince Charles, likely had his eye on the throne for some time. While he has started to help with more of her royal obligations it doesn’t look like he, aged 70, will be getting to sit in the driver’s seat anytime soon.
The president of Tunisia, 92
Beji Caid Essebsi, 92, was elected president in 2014. He has been in politics since 1941 and has earned the nickname the ‘Old Wolf’ as a result. He has said he has no plans to run for reelection in November and unlike the Queen, wants to give youth a chance.
The associate justice of the US supreme court, 86
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an inspiration to anyone who has heard her story. She was the second woman to ever serve on the US supreme court. She has survived two bouts of cancer and a few other scares. Yet she says she plans to serve for the next five years, which will take her over 90 and still in service.
The world’s oldest barber, 108
Anthony Mancinelli was born in Italy and moved to America before he was ten years old. By the time he was 12 he was working as a full-time barber and has not stopped since. Mancinelli has recently been recognized by the Guinness World Records and says he has no plans to stop working just yet.
