Eating healthy can be easy if you make a few correct choices. If you have a busy schedule it can appear tough to always prepare a full healthy meal. Follow these steps to make healthy eating work for you.
Meal prep
Our first tip is an obvious but important one. If you can dedicate half a day on the weekend to meal prep for the week ahead it will make your life much easier. Prepare meals that can go in the freezer and when you are short on time during the week you can heat and eat.
Keep the fridge stocked
One of the easiest ways to start eating unhealthy food again is to make excuses. Limit the options for excuses and you limit the opportunities to eat unhealthily. Have a fridge stocked with healthy food so that when you get hungry you have somewhere to turn.
Healthy snacking
Snacking doesn’t have to be unhealthy. We all get peckish from time to time. You don’t have to turn to chocolate or crisps. Try carrots or apples instead. Have some healthy snack options on hand to fend off hunger when it strikes.
Cut out soda
Soda is just a waste. It is expensive, it provides false energy (soon to be met with a crash in energy), it is bad for your teeth and it is unhealthy. While you may miss the taste in the beginning after a while you won’t even like the taste anymore. Make water your go-to drink. If you don’t like the taste you can add some fruit or herbs to make it taste great.
Look at the labels
A lot of healthy food actually isn’t healthy. Look at labels before purchasing. If it has high sugar, sodium or calories put it back on the shelf.
