Our health should always be a priority. That’s why it is important to always keep an eye on any signs of a disease or health condition.
There are certain conditions whose symptoms are mild and hardly noticeable. Besides that, it is a fact that men are less likely to see a doctor for general medical checkups compared to women.
The following are 7 symptoms that no man should ignore:
1. Swollen legs
Swollen legs also referred to as Edema is a condition where water is retained in your body especially in the legs. It is often a sign of various health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, or even cancer.
The best way to deal with this condition is to place your legs in a raised position using a pillow as you lie down. Please see a doctor if the swelling persists.
2. Persistent cough
This is one of the symptoms often ignored by most people, especially men. However, there are certain symptoms that should never be taken lightly by any person. For example, a cough that won’t just go away.
Well, we sometimes experience a cold that comes and passes away after a short while – but coughing for more than two weeks? You definitely need to see a doctor.
3. Stomach pain and nausea
Not all stomach pain and nausea can be considered as signs of serious health problems. For instance, if you eat too much or food earlier in the day, then then you are likely to experience stomach pain.
However, constant and persistent pain could be a sign of a bigger problem in the stomach. It could be an irritable bowel syndrome, a hernia, Crohn’s disease or any other condition that requires attention.
4. Chest pain
Chest pain is another condition that should never be taken lightly. It can be an indicator of a long list of health problems in your body. Although some might be mild, mend should never ignore sharp pains in their arms, chest or upper abdomen. Such signs could be symptoms of a heart attack, coronary blockage, lung inflammation or any other condition.
5. Snoring
It is true that snoring can be normal, but loud snoring that makes it uncomfortable for other people to sleep at night might be a sign of a health issue you have. It could be sleep apnea or some other breathing difficulty issues. Snoring can lead to your blood being under oxygenated.
6. Persistent fatigue
Feeling tired and sleepy all the time is not just a sign of your day’s busy schedule. If you constantly feel worn out and sleepy, then it could be an indication of an underlying health problem. For example, it could be as a result of depression, insomnia, vitamin deficiency, diabetes or other allergies.
7. Heartburn
This is another sign that shouldn’t be taken lightly by both men and women. If you often feel a burning sensation in your stomach, throat or around the chest, then it could be heartburn – a condition where acid produced in the stomach is directed back into the esophagus.
