Three Quick Fixes to Better Health

by Romana Greene

Everyone gets stuck in a rut from time to time. People stay up late, eat the wrong foods and watch terrible TV shows. It can happen to anyone and when you want to fix it, there is a tendency to turn to radical changes and crash dieting to “fix yourself” and get back on a good path. It rarely works. While a crash diet may help you lose some of the weight you have put on and may make you feel a little better, self-inflicted torture is not a good modus operandi and you will soon turn back to your old ways. There is a better option. Read on to find out the three best ways to feeling great again.

Drink water

The first tip is incredibly easy and incredibly beneficial. Drinking water is one of the most important things in life and so many people just don’t drink enough. Up to 60% of the body is water or to put it in more detail: 73% of the brain, 64% of skin, and 79% of muscles. If you are not drinking enough water, every part of you feels the effects. Drink more water and you will start looking healthier and feeling better. It can be a tough task as first. If you are used to drinking soda, water can seem tasteless but trust us, give it a few weeks and your body will start telling you how much it loves water.

Cut back on sodium

While many diets will tell you to cut a food group out entirely, this is never a good idea. This type of sacrifice often results in rebounds as you are not being honest with yourself and the truth will resurface at some point (likely at 3 am in a terrible fast food restaurant). You should try to cut back on sodium though. Sodium retains water causing you to feel puffy. 90% of people consume too much sodium so it is an easy area to target to start feeling better.

Eat more fiber

Fiber is incredibly important in your diet and processed foods don’t have enough. Start including more fiber in your meals to feel stronger and healthier. Things like bell peppers, broccoli, and whole grains are an easy place to start.
